Bonus Alicia Keys Track: “Hurt So Bad”

I love Alicia Keys, but I am not loving her new album “As I Am”.

I am happy that she sold 742 thousand copies of the CD in one week. That is a great accomplishment that WiggyPopLocksNWails(TM) didn’t even accomplish with “B’Day”. I stumbled across a Bonus Track recording during the “As I Am” sessions called “Hurt So Bad”.

Quickly after listening to the song, I realized that it was a remake of one of my FAVORITE oldies of all time. The Little Anthony and the Imperials classic “Hurt So Bad”.

The original is a song that I heard nearly every Saturday as my Mom cleaned the house and forced me to scrub the toilet. The original in my opinion is a tough act to follow, and while Alicia does a decent job, she doesn’t really capture any of the raw emotion of the original song.

Little Anthony’s falsetto at the beginning of the song builds into a huge chorus. Then comes the huge “Please Don’t Go!” bridge and finally the conclusion of the song. The original is just a great example of good singing, and the range of emotions he is able to cover in 2 minutes and 8 seconds is amazing.

I am not mad at Alicia for covering the song (after all it is just a Bonus Track that didn’t make the album.) But if Alicia tackled remaking the song the same way she did when she remade Prince’s “How Come You Don’t Call Me?” she could have really done something special here.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I’m not here to get into a debate about anyone’s true feelings about the “Thanksgiving” Holiday. I’m just here to wish you all a Happy Holiday whatever your feelings are.

This past week has been an exceptionally good week for my blog. My daily readership is growing and I am thankful.

Take this day to spend time with your family members. In life we seem to take our family for granted. Sometimes we all think that nothing in life will change, and those we both count on and are used to having around will always be there. But this is not true.

So enjoy your day today with your loved ones and friends!

PS: Don’t forget to do cardio tomorrow for at least an hour to burn off any of that holiday excess 🙂

Hayden Panettiere Tries To Make “Sexy” Happen In “GQ”…

Hayden Panettiere has always been a cute girl. But I personally don’t find her sexy.

Why? Am I crazy? No. Because to me she still looks like she is 14.

Many guys fantasize about the young woman behind the indestructable Claire Bennett on “Heroes”.  And believe me, I have read some pretty sick things online written by dudes who question her character’s “regenerative abilities” a little too much.

But for me, Hayden is just a cute girl. She’s like your little cousin or something. I can’t help feeling a little protective over her. But maybe it’s because I’m not used to seeing her in photoshoots like this.

I hope the above photo doesn’t lead Hayden down that slippery slope that Britney and Lohan have pioneered. If that were to happen it would be a shame since Hayden is actually a good actress.

Just remember how Britney started Hayden…..

Christian Bale is “John Connor”!

Don’t you hate it when a movie project you have written off becomes interesting?

As you may have previously read on my blog, Director McG was chosen to direct the 4th entry in the “Terminator” series, “Terminator: Salvation”.

“Terminator: Salvation” is to serve as a potential springboard for an all new “Terminator” trilogy. When I read about this news I really couldn’t care less about this project.

Then the folks over at Aint It Cool reported that Batman himself Christian Bale has been cast as the new “John Connor”.

This casting choice is interesting to me and makes me curious about the project again. Bale has built up a considerable amount of good will with his fans, and he really hasn’t made a bad movie. His choices in film roles are always pretty good.

This all also makes me wonder if McG is trying to repent for the “Charlie’s Angels” movies, and actually make a real kick ass “Terminator” film.

We’ll all see soon enough.
