“Old School” Joint of the Day: P.M. Dawn “I’d Die Without You”

PM Dawn

This is one of those super dramatic ballads that oddly worked. When you look back on it, it’s a really good song. It’s rare that you get vulnerability from a male R&B artist anymore.

And passing fads like Sean Kingston take note, singing out of your throat (like a frog with a cold) AND being overweight is not a good look. Being overweight AND being able to really sing? That’s a different story. That’s why P.M. Dawn were successful. The lead singer was Big As A House, but he sang very well.

P.M. Dawn came out with a couple of hits and then of course faded away into obscurity. But this song is still probably their best hit.

They still play this joint late at night. And people still boldly try to sing it at Karaoke Night (when they really shouldn’t). Patron will bring out the singer in anyone.

Here is their video for “Die Without You”.

Enjoy!
