And “90210″ has just gotten more interesting…

I have been watching “90210″ since the premiere, and while I won’t call it great compelling TV, it has enough to make me return each week. The show works well when it focuses on Brenda and Kelly and “Lucille Bluth”, but it’s the kids who are going to make or break this show.

And 7 episodes in, you can tell they are getting into the rhythm of their characters.

90210’s latest episode “Hollywood Forever” was actually pretty solid. It had some story progression, even though the “taking care of a baby with a partner you aren’t comfortable with for class” story that Annie and Ethan were stuck with was formulaic. But they played it better than expected since the teacher decided to jack up everyone’s roles and even made Navid a same sex married couple with a guy who had huge hair.

Silver and Dixon (a couple I actually like to watch) are more and more believable as a couple. Their storyline was good too. But the bubbling under the radar drug addiction of Adriana came to a head. And it progressed into some “21 Jump Street” style detective work by Jessica Lucas (the only survivor from “Cloverfield”.)

Side Note: The CW should remake “21 Jump Street” next season. Re-Hire Rob Thomas and Kristen Bell and get this cracking.

But anyhow, this all culminated with the most “WTF!” worthy moment of the show. Adriana’s overdose.

Seriously, I wasn’t expecting that. And it was good.

So is Adriana dead? Will Eden Lord Naomi get acquitted?

Also, do you think that Jessica Lucas “21 Jump Street” like character will cause trouble for Professor Oleander Ryan Matthews? There was obvious tension there.

Anyhow, I’m down to see more, and the show was picked up for a full season. Hopefully this episode is the start of better things. People forget that “Popular” had a wonky first couple of episodes, but by season’s end it was a cult classic. The same could be at play here.
